In his early stage of international carrier , he used to be a leg spinner who can bat as well or you can say a bowling All-rounder. But soon the Australian cricket Board (ACB) have realized his passion for batting. They decided to make him a world class batsman. Soon they found captaining/leadership qualities in him and assign him this very heavy as well as honorable responsibility. Steven smith has taken it very seriously.

Steven smith in not known as hard hitter of the ball, but he is delight to watch as he plays sensibly and through the gaps with great timing. A very sensible batsman with great fielding skills. It is always a plus point for any team and Smith is one of them.
